On the occasion of the 250th anniversary celebration of Faber-Castell, the Indian Central School under the initiative of the Principal Mrs. Shantha Maria James organized an art workshop in collaboration with the company on the 30th and 31st of October 2010. The event was honoured by the presence of Mrs. Ira Malhotra, wife of His Excellency Mr. Ajai Malhotra, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait.


The workshop was held in the school premises and was open to all art lovers in Kuwait. The resource team consisted of Mr. Rizal, renowned international artist &Mr. Martin from Indonesia .Mr. Krish Khothari and Mr. Ganesh from the GCC represented the Nishat Group. The GM Mr. Menon and Mr. Suhail from Al-Ruwaiz had put in all efforts to make the workshop lively. The whole team of ICS teachers and support staff were pooled together to put up the show.


The workshop was instrumental in introducing new techniques in art such as sponge technique, sandpaper technique, blending, mixing, shading and new skills in art using different connector pens such as patterning, pointillism, contouring, squiggling, doodling and innovative techniques of finger printing. The session was also pepped up with ongoing quizzes and games with prizes and certificates to the participants with the right answers.


The primary objective of the art workshop was to provide a forum for children and art lovers where they could develop their own creative skills through a greater understanding and enjoyment of art. Such workshops will always be looked forward to for it also gave the beginners an opportunity to put their skills to test in an informal and interactive environment.


The workshop was a grand success with over 954 registrations including teachers and students and 16 schools participating from all over Kuwait.
