Lower Primary Wing celebrated ‘Global Hand-Washing Day’ (15-10-14) and
‘World Food Day’ (16-10-14) with great enthusiasm.
Global Hand Washing Day (GHD) is a campaign to motivate and mobilize millions around the world to wash their hands with soap. It takes place on October 15 of each year. The campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of hand-washing with soap as a key approach to disease prevention.
On ‘Global Hand-washing Day’ a group of students went to each class in the Lower Primary Wing and sang songs about hand washing and gave demos with placard to make the children aware of the importance of washing hands. They also told the children ‘How to wash hands’ and ‘When to wash hands’. Posters were put up in the wing and video were shown.
World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world on 16 October in honor of the date of the foundation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with food security, including the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
On ‘World Food Day’, activity of drawing and colouring of fruit was conducted for the students. They also brought a fruit in class to share and eat.
All the teachers in Lower Primary Wing and our supervisor Mrs. Amarjt Kaur actively participated in celebrations and made these days wonderful.
We extend our sincere thanks to our principal Mrs. Shantha Maria James for giving such an opportunity for us.
