Sports Day at ICS

The air was charged with jubilation and cheer as Indian Central School hosted its much awaited Sports Day on 29th November 2012 at the Kaifan Stadium. The pleasant weather of the day was indeed a green signal from the Almighty and it helped in the timely conduct of all the events and displays. The day commenced with the welcome address by the Principal Mrs. Shanta Maria James. The event was ceremoniously heralded by the flag hoisting in which the Indian, Kuwait and school flags were unfurled by the Chief Guest His Excellency The Ambassador of India to Kuwait Mr.Satish Mehta, The Guest of Honour His Excellency Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation Mr. Shibu Baby John and our Chairman Mr. Thomas Chandy MLA . The ceremony was followed by a patriotic parade of class 1 students representing the Defense forces of our country viz. the Army, Navy, Air force and the Police. The Kuwait and Indian national anthem instilled virtues for the weal and welfare of one and all.

It was indeed a great fiesta in the annals of ICS as students from class 9 to 12th took part in a colourful March Past of the houses led by the Supreme Council of the school. This ushered in the festive mood of the occasion and the trophy was bagged by the Topaz house. Jovin Jacob, a national level Badminton player and athlete took the Oath on behalf of the athletes. The Sports Day was declared open by the Ambassador H.E Mr. Satish Mehta. The special guests of the day released pigeons as a symbol of peace and freedom. The morning reached a crescendo with the release of balloons and party poppers promising good luck to set off the events, parades and displays. The Guest of Honour H.E the Minister for Labour and Rehabilitation Mr. Shibu Baby John motivated the students and spoke on the importance of Sports and games. He exhorted everyone to excel in everything they do in order to reap the fruits of success.

There was an array of captivating drills and displays like the Peace Brigade imitating the expertise of the dance mogul the legendary Michael Jackson, creating the emblem of peace in its culmination. It was followed by Humming Harmony by LKG, Flight to Freedom by UKG, Hawaiian Heirloom by the Lower Primary, Radiating Rainbow by the Upper Primary, Fluttering Festoons by the Lower Middle Wing and the Scintillating Shapes by the Upper Middle Wing. The displays enlivened the spirit of the spectators with their brilliant hues, patterns and music.

The hardwork, talent and skill was appreciated and recognized by awarding them with medals and trophies. All good things finally come to an end  for the meet was declared closed by the Principal Mrs. Shanta Maria James who thanked one and all for making it a truly memorable event.
